I tried to make this picture look kinda raw and keep other frills to a minimum. It's also lacking a title. It's so easy to come up with all kinds of interesting interpretations of what the artwork could symbolize. I thought I better don't spoil it for you by adding one of my clumsy headlines.
However, I would be curious to hear if it's speaking to you and maybe what titles you would give it.
El Pulpo Mecanico
This was probably the most eye catching vehicle at Burning Man this year. I see photographers keep posting pictures of it on facebook etc. So here is my little contribution. If you wish to learn more about it or see videos of it in action, you can follow this link: http://www.elpulpomecanico.com
So what's up with my travels? I'm leaving Hawaii today. My suitcase is packed for New Zealand!
Black Rock Bijou
After discovering it far out in the desert, this quickly became my favorite sight to visit in Black Rock City this year: a fully functional movie theater in the middle of nowhere. Kind of fascinated me. Showtimes were at midnight, 2, and 4 in the morning. One morning I actually made it in there. You get candy for free and have the choice between regular theater seats and comfy sofas. This is all the information I got. Besides the fact that there was a coupling couple right behind the building while I took this picture.
Burner Portrait XI
Just returned from Burning Man. This time I'm posing myself. Should be legitimate as I'm a burner myself after all. Steffi (who is now also a burner) took this picture. At a crazy place like Black Rock City, it seemed nearly impossible to me to create any sort of attention by simply being dressed in a certain way. However, in a world where naked guys in tutus are a perfectly normal thing, a guy in a suit apparently becomes a head turner. I wasn't expecting this. Suddenly people followed me to talk to me or photograph me. By the time a hardcore looking burner stepped down his vehicle and kindly asked me to "slowly walk towards the camera" my Burning Man world was somewhat turned upside down. Shortly later I took this off, grabbed my camera and went back to business as 'usual'. More pictures will follow.
