Coney Island Portraits

As you can probably tell by these images, I'm not in Germany anymore. My big trip (around the world) has started. There are new places I'm planning to visit, but for now I'm enjoying my old stomping grounds in New Jersey and New York. Visiting here is always quite emotional to me as I have lived here for so long and had such an amazing time. Luckily I still have friends here who always welcome me almost like a family member. One spontaneous idea I had on a rainy morning was to photograph Coney Island in the rain. By the time I got there however, the sun was shining. Because people were not very busy, I decided to take some portraits.

Alfredo the Street Cleaner

The other night I had very intense dreams about film making. In those dreams I started to make short movies with my SLR and had a tremendous amount of fun doing that. I believe if I would do that, I would try to mix interesting visuals with interesting character studies. Maybe scenes would look something like this picture here - shot this in Sanctus Spiritus in Cuba.

Burner Portrait VIII

It's starting to annoy me how Wordpress reduces saturation and contrast while downscaling images. When you click on this one, you can see that the original image is much more vivid. With some photos it's not harming much, but with a picture like this one I think it's a big deal. Any of you writing photo blogs? Any experience with this? (update: problem solved)

Curiosity

While walking around in Havana I got to know an artist who offered to show me around in the city. One place he brought me to was the place he was raised at. It was the home of a woman he called his aunt. While we were resting there from walking in the sun all morning, my camera got more and more into the center of attention of some of the kids. After a few snaps and discovering themselves on the camera display, the guys started to have a blast. Snapping, looking, snapping, looking, snapping...I had the feeling they wouldn't stop if I wouldn't.

Google+ anybody?

I'm wondering who of my visitors are on Google+. If you are on it, hit me up right here. The way pictures are shared and presented on there is pretty nice so I can't resist adding them there as well.
